Carbon Capture
BGE’s biogas collection and converstion to usable energy effectively (in net) captures or diverts carbon from the atmosphere. Using methane as fuel, or even simply buring in a flare, converts the methane to carbon dioxide which dramatically reduces the greenhouse impact of the gases. If used as fuel, methane from organic waste digestion, offsets the need for natural gas (or other fossil fuel) to be burned which reduces net emissions of CO2 to the atmosphere.

Projects
Cogen Carbon System
The Cogen landfill is an old closed landfill, and a portion of the site is owned by the LA County DPW. Prepared design for an LFG collection and treatment system for County owned portion. Prepared LFG design drawings and assisted client with a Mitigated Negative Declaration (MND) process. Designed LFG migration monitoring probes to monitor offsite LFG migration, coordinated work with the client and addressed Local Enforcement Agency (LEA) comments.
